Hosted by Paul Perrault and Author and Journalist Craig Von Buseck, Grace and Truth is a new program on Faith Radio. Grace and Truth seeks to inspire Christians to consider how they react to current events at home and abroad.

Whether it’s reading a blog post, listening to a radio program, or watching television, how do we react when we see all of the negativity around us? Do we get scared and shake our heads in despair, or do we bow our heads in prayer?

In each edition of Grace and Truth, Paul and Craig will look at hot-button issues that are pressing in today’s world, examining them from a biblical worldview. Finally they will take the time to pray for each issue discussed on the show.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” – Philippians 4:6

Prayer is powerful, and as Christians, instead of shake our heads in despair when we hear news that frightens us, we need to bow our heads in prayer and turn our cares over to the only one who can rescue us: God.

On the inaugural edition of Grace and Truth, Craig talks about what he calls the “New Middle East” that is threatening to form as a result of the activities of Islamic Extremist Group ISIS and why it’s relevant for Christians today.

“Something that really needs to be understood and recognized is that Islamic nations and those that are Jihdist, those that are radical, they are bent on world domination. It is the same as communism, it is the same at Nazi Germany. Islam is out to conquer the world.”

Craig explains how ISIS is threatening to take over nation states such as Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Lebanon that have been independent since World War I. If ISIS is able to seize control of the Middle East they won’t stop there. Craig encourages Christians to pray for the situation in the Middle East because ISIS has its sights set on America.

How can we pray?

•  Diminished presence of ISIS in the Middle East.

•  Prevention of ISIS spreading throughout the Middle East and the rest of the world.

•  Strength and courage for Christians being persecuted in the Middle East.

Craig and Paul then turned their attention to another topic that hits closer to home. Their discussion centers on Sargeant Bowe Bergdahl who is set to be tried for desertion and misbehavior. Bergdahl was recently exchanged for five high ranking Taliban leaders and was treated as a war hero on his return home. However, there is substantial evidence to suggest that Bergdahl had deserted his company. According to Craig, this decision to release five leaders of the Taliban in exchange for a Sergeant accused of desertion have caused many to question the wisdom of the Obama Administration.

How can we pray?

•  Wisdom for military and political leaders of our country.

•  Safety and protection of armed forces members after five officials are released to rejoin the fight against America.

As always, when you watch the news, take time to bow your head in prayer and acknowledge that God is in control of all events across the globe.
