Open the Bible challenges listeners to believe that their lives can be transformed through consistent study of the Bible and a deepening faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The ministry grew from Pastor Colin’s two-year journey of preaching and reading through the Bible, shared by the congregation of The Orchard Evangelical Free Church in 2000 and 2001. Now, the ministry reaches millions of people around the globe with its gospel-centered content, and the daily program itself reaches an estimated 250,000 all over the world.
The journey led to the publication of a four-volume book series entitled The Unlocking the Bible Story, followed by several other books: Ten Keys for Unlocking the Bible, Unlock the Bible in 30 Days, Ten Keys to Unlock the Christian Life, and The 10 Greatest Struggles of Your Life.
Our Mission: is to use a broad array of modern media to help people around the world meet Jesus. We do this by opening the Bible for them, helping them open the Bible themselves, and equipping them to open the Bible with others.
Colin Smith is the senior pastor of The Orchard Evangelical Free Church in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. He is married to Karen, and they have two grown sons, Andrew and David.
Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, Colin was raised in a Christian family and felt the call of God to pastoral ministry from an early age. He trained at London School of Theology where he received a B.A. in Theology and later a Masters of Philosophy.
Colin was pastor of the Enfield Evangelical Free Church in North London for sixteen years and during that time served in various capacities in the Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches, including a time as their President. In 1996, Colin transitioned to serve at The Orchard, a vibrant, multi-campus church in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago.
