Having an abortion can leave you scarred and feeling guilty. But when we look to the Lord, we can be forgiven and made new.

“I will extol the Lord at all times; his praise will always be on my lips. I will glory in the Lord; let the afflicted hear and rejoice. Glorify the Lord with me; let us exalt his name together. I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame.” Psalm 34:1-5

There are millions of children who are not here on earth, leaving empty swings on the playgrounds all across this country because of abortions. There can be guilt that makes us feel responsible for being a part of this.

But there is hope in the promise that when we look to the Lord, our faces become radiant, and we will never have a face covered with the shame of that again because of who the Lord is and what he has done. Verse 34:7 says:

“The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.”

It’s his very presence that he promises us, and along with that presence comes indescribable peace. All we need to do is look to him now, and we will be encompassed in his love, grace, and comfort. The many debates going on in our world today, and all of the political talk, can be difficult to listen to especially if there’s been an abortion or more than one abortion in the past, but please take from these words and feel the Lord’s peace and radiance:

“When we look to the Lord, we begin to have radiant faces, faces never covered with shame.”

No matter where we’ve been or where we’re going, the Lord is with us and always able to make us new again. All we need to do is ask, trust, and look upon him.
