In American football, the term ‘blitz’ can often mean chaos and destruction is imminent for the quarterback, yet a blitz can also be the beginning of one of the best plays of the game. Similarly, in life, when everything seems to be collapsing, God can turn an entire situation around for the good.

Jo welcomes former NFL quarterback and FamilyLife vice president Jeff Kemp to share about his latest book . We gain valuable lessons on how to face the trials of life with confidence and courage– on this latest Connecting Faith.

Jeff hones in on what he believes are some key differences between those who handle a blitz successfully and those who don’t:

“The difference between those folks who can handle blitzes and turn them into blessings & actually bless other people while they’re going through trials, versus people who just get stuck in the hole and stuck in that rut and feel the victim-hood pull them down – there’s three areas I take a look at.

One is they actually have a team approach to life and not a solo approach…. The other one is they don’t get stuck in the consumer mentality our society trains us in…. And finally – we need a power source greater than ourselves. And those who get through blitzes – like Chuck Colson who came to Jesus Christ in prison, or Joni Ericksen Tada who broke her neck and was paralyzed in her teens and then started the amazing ministry Joni and Friends – they have a power source greater than themselves. And that is a relationship with their Father in Heaven, and Jesus Christ His Son, and the Holy Spirit that fills them and that gives them the power to handle all things through Christ who gives them strength.”
