Self-talk can be a powerful thing if we harness it in a biblical way. On the Tuesday edition of Live the Promise Gail Dudley joins the program to talk about choosing to declare the truth and reject the enemy’s lies.

For Gail, the lies started when she experienced a teenage pregnancy and was rejected by her church, even as she came to Christ.

“I birthed a healthy baby boy. I accepted Jesus. I expected men and women to surround me and see me through. When I was ready to give my son back the pastor told me, ‘You yourself cannot do that.’ That was a painful experience – I could not even celebrate that. That was a very shunning time.”

Gail was required to stand back and watch as her family dedicated her baby boy. The shame she’d felt at discovering her pregnancy was reinforced by well-meaning church people.

Slowly, God’s Word started setting her free.

Gail and Susie unpack the steps to recognizing lies and replacing them with truth.

• Ask yourself – what am I believing about myself?

• Ask yourself – who told me that?

• Ask – does it line up with what God’s Word says?

• Declare Scripture to yourself and lean on what God says. Gail says, be bold in your faith!

“We’ve been told that we need to be completely humble, but we misunderstand what that means. It’s not to be defeated but to have confidence in the Lord.”

Gail calls us to be patient with each stage of the journey. “So many of us want to quickly get through that healing process but it’s a process for a reason. We have to take each layer. At the end of the layers is the freedom.”
