We all have dreams. Maybe your heart’s dream is to write, or to travel, or it’s something so huge that you can’t even begin to imagine it. Do you ever feel like your past is holding you back from accomplishing your dreams?

Sarah Mae, ministry leader and author, believes that all women can overcome their pasts – no matter what they may hold – to make their dreams reality.

The first step to making your dreams come true: Let God heal you.

“Until we can get healthy and deal with our issues, and by deal I mean let the Lord dig in and deal with them and heal us, we’re going to have a really hard time finding freedom and finding delight in our life.”

The second step is to find freedom after healing.

“…it’s what the Lord wants to do for all of us… that we can be free so that we can be a light to others and glorify God and enjoy our lives- not stay locked up in a dark place.”

A wonderful example of this is Psalm 40:1-3.

“I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry.”

Sarah says that this first part for her was when was down on her hands and knees crying out to the Lord in her apartment, and God heard her. He listened to her crying out, and that was a huge moment in her life. The next part of the scripture says:

“He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and the mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.”

The Lord can lift you out of any pit that you’re in, any pit that you’ve been in, and he will set you on a firm rock and he is the rock that you will be set on. The third part of this scripture is:

“He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him.”

Whatever you’re going through, when you cry out to the Lord he will hear you. He wants to lift you out of whatever pit it is that you’re stuck in, and He will set you on the firm foundation that is Himself alone. Then He will use your story as a light to others, and when you share it people will see Him and put their faith in Him. Your journey and your story isn’t just for you; it’s a testimony of and for God that can be used to help others. All you need to do in this journey is take that first step of healing.

Once you’ve done that you will learn how to delight in the Lord, and in life, and the longings of your heart will become so beautiful that you’ll be able to not feel guilty all the time. You will find how to enjoy God and enjoy the beautiful things around you, which then gives you freedom to accomplish your dreams.
