Are you a competent Christian in the workplace?
One of the best ways Christians can evangelize at their job is by modeling hard-work and competency at all times. Dr. Bill Peel, co-author of Workplace Grace, discusses the importance of being our best in the workplace.
“Many Christians have operated under the misunderstanding that our daily work really is not that important to God.”
In order to be effective and influential as a follower of Jesus, we do not have to go to seminary or even work for a ministry. Our daily life and work is just as important to Jesus.
“I did not realize, the incredible amount of information in the Bible about our daily work, over the years I began to understand how important work it is in God’s sight.”
In the very beginning of the Bible, in Genesis chapter one, mankind is given the task to work and it was good.
“We are called to fill the earth, and that word fill actually means to bring to full flourishing and we do that in our daily work as we make things, fix things, and as we develop new ideas.”
There is no such thing as pointless work, assuming that work is done for the right reasons.
“According to Colossians, our daily work, no matter how menial we might think it is, can and should be done to the glory of God, that’s what He intended from the very beginning of our creation.”
Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve. – Colossians 3:23-24
