On the cross, Jesus said ‘it is finished.’ On the Friday edition of Live the Promise, pastor Tullian Tchividjian of Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church returns and shares what he’s learned about resting in the finished work of Christ.
Tullian’s message is one of simple but profound grace.
“Most people really live with a sense of condemnation – they feel on their good spiritual days God loves them more and on their bad spiritual days (however that’s defined) God loves them less.” Tullian reminds us that in Christ, we are entirely accepted.
It took some time for Tullian to discover this in his own life. When the truth invaded his heart, everything changed.
“I started to believe I was getting better and better… you can live that way for a little while until God reminds you how bad you are. He breathes life into us by showing us just how small and weak we are and how strong and competent Jesus is and continues to be for us. I rediscovered just how necessary the gospel is for Christian people – we never outgrow our need to hear ‘It is finished.'”
