In an unprecedented time – facing situations we never dreamed up – there’s one place we can return that offers hope and purpose.

Kristian Stanfill and Passion Music are synonymous with corporate worship – lifting up Jesus’ name with a record-setting 65,000 college students at this year’s Passion Conference. But now that so many of us are unable to gather together for worship time, Kristian says worship itself is more important than ever.

“In any season of life, whenever you worship – things get put in their right order. And I think especially right now it’s important for us to remember the correct order of things. Remembering that God is Creator. He is sustainer. He is all powerful, and He is holding the world together right now.”

“When we worship Him, and we fix our eyes on Him and on that truth, things start to reorder. And maybe the fear that gripped us before, or uncertainty or doubt or a lot of questions – right now we have a lot of friends who’ve lost a lot of work because of what’s happening, and people are going, ‘How are we even going to pay the bills? How is God going to provide?’ When we worship we remember God is our provider, and He is our protector. He’s in control.”

Passion’s latest live worship record, Roar, captures the incredible experience of the Passion Conference that brought in the new year, and features a tremendous take on the song sweeping the globe as we speak, “Waymaker”.

“You know, I’ve always thought that when a song sweeps across the world like this, it feels like God is saying something really specific to the world and to the church. I think in the moment we live in right now with this pandemic that’s gripped the globe – here is that lyric, ‘Even when I don’t see it, you’re working. Even when I don’t feel it, you’re working. You never stop. You never stop working.'”

Kristian thinks there’s a real reason it seems as if the lyrics were crafted for us today.

It’s almost as if God pre-loaded this truth in our mouths, because He knew we would need it at this moment. Isn’t that cool to think God would give us a song before we knew we needed it?”

“Now obviously, I know for me and for a lot of people “Waymaker” has meant a lot before I ever got to the Coronavirus. But – especially in these days – isn’t it cool that that we already have this truth in our mouths? To say, You are here, and you’re moving in our midst. Even when I don’t see it. Even when I don’t feel it. A Waymaker, a miracle worker. A promise keeper. You’re a light in the darkness. That’s already in our d.n.a. at this point. What a gift that song has been.”
