Sexual addiction is one of the fastest growing addictions in the world. Many marriages are being torn apart as wives uncover their husband’s betrayal, or vice versa.

However there is hope for those who were betrayed or have betrayed their spouse. Paul Zunker, of Pure Desire Ministries, shares how couples who are suffering from the aftermath of sexual infidelity can start to pick up the pieces. He says that the first step to recovery is understanding who the real enemy is.

“I think one of Satan’s main goals is to destroy marriages and families. The best way for him to do that is by keeping them separated and not being able to deal with things together. It’s so key when a husband and wife work together to restore their marriage.”

Both the husband and the wife have to go through a personal recovery. Pure Desire Ministries have plenty of resources for both men and women who are walking through the aftermath of sexual addiction. One of the most crucial resources they have is a support group finder.

“They are called ‘betrayal and beyond’ groups, it’s a separate curriculum that helps women understand their husbands addiction, understand what’s going on in their brain. Then they work on their own healing emotionally and psychologically in a group to get healing.”

Then, when the husband and the wife have gone through their curriculum separately, Pure Desire Ministries also offers a curriculum that couples can work through together.

“It’s designed for the husband and wife to go through together to deepen their Biblical intimacy once the healing has happened on both sides.”

Redemption and restoration is possible for couples on a personal and corporate level. You aren’t alone. God can heal your marriage if you surrender yourself to Him.
