“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” 1 John 4:18

We know that God’s perfect love casts out fear, but does it also has the power to help us heal physically?

Dr. Troy Spurrill from the Synapse Center for Health and Healing says that God’s perfect love has the ability to not only heal us mentally, and spiritually, but also physically.

“Science shows there is a definitive difference between people and how they heal when they’re in a state of fear versus a state of love. When you’re in a state of love, you just heal faster.”

At his practice, Dr. Troy says he has seen countless people who are dominated by their fear, and it wreaks havoc on their health.

“From a scientific perspective, we know that people who are in a state of fear, their cells are literally folding up on each other. As a result, their cellular membrane isn’t as exposed to nutrients and they don’t absorb the same amount of nutrients that they would if they were in a state of love. When they are in that state, their cells are wide open and so they absorb all the nutrients they’re getting.”

Science proves that living in a state of love, even worldly love, has other added benefits as well.

“It’s harder for people in a state of love to get sick. Think back to the teenage years and you’ve got all this stuff going on, your diet’s probably a mess, but you’re in love so life couldn’t be better.”

However, this culture of love doesn’t always last into adulthood.

“So life happens, and things get piled on and piled on and piled on you, and you can stop feeling that until God starts to fill that hole.”

Our job is to bring people to experience God’s perfect love, a love that is capable of healing the mind, body, and spirit.

“We are called to help people and bring them to God, so they can understand that the perfect love is there for them and it’s part of the healing process.”
