Are you wrestling with fear?

“God wants to tear down the scaffolding and reveal the unshakable realities that are eternal. Alas, too many people, including Christians, are building their lives on things that can shake.”

Dr. Warren Wiersbe shares encouragement to turn to God in the midst of fear.

“What shall we do as we live in such a shaking world? Listen to God speak and obey Him. Really it’s not rocket science; that’s it. Listen to God speak and obey Him. Receive His grace day by day and serve Him with reverence and godly fear. Don’t be frightened or distracted by the tremendous changes going on around you.”

In other words, keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith.

“Keep running the race with endurance. Keep looking to Jesus Christ. And remember that your Father loves you and draw on His enabling grace. That grace, its power its enabling, it empowers us to not only survive but to thrive. To stand and to be strong and to win in battle.”

Let’s break it down:

Listen to God speak and obey Him. How do you know his voice? Read His Word and do what His Word says.

Receive the grace. Take a moment to breathe and realize that your life today is a gift. God has empowered you to life for Him.

Serve Him with reverence and godly fear. Remember that your Father is the One who is keeping the planets fixed and stable. He can handle your prayer requests and questions, but He is also your Lord.

It seems hip right now to be irreverent and even calloused, but the pure in heart are the ones who will see God. We can easily be swayed by the current fads, even within the church. But God calls us to straighten up, listen for His voice, and do the next thing He tells us to do. Distraction is not a fruit of the Spirit; self-control, peace, and joy are. When we choose to listen to God and not the culture, our spiritual fruit will multiply and we’ll grow as kingdom influencers. Don’t be frightened; don’t be distracted. Read God’s unchanging Word and choose to follow Him without fear.
