Are you choosing to follow God?

His Word tells us that when we wait on Him, He will give us new strength. As we see the culture continually deteriorating around us, it’s all too easy to point fingers at those who are blatantly rebelling. But God calls us to examine ourselves first. Pause, rest, and examine your own heart.

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14

Now is the time to look inward. Are you trusting God with your finances? Are you trusting God with your family? Are you trusting Him with your day, your work, your physical health?

In his book , Carter Conlon writes:

“I believe there’s a spiritual moment in every believer’s heart where he or she simply crosses over the line, determined to go all the way with God. It’s not necessarily an emotional thing… Rather it’s a decision that affects the rest of your life…‘I’m going with God, whatever that means. I’m not drawing back. By the grace of God, I am not going to quit when it gets hard. I’m going to trust God for the power to finish this journey.’”

We have a choice to make. If God truly is sovereign, if He has the power and the authority to handle and ordain every circumstance in your life, we can trust that He will renew our strength as He leads us closer to Him. We can step out in faith whenever He prompts us, knowing that the results will be in His hands. Our small acts of obedience will ripple out in ways we can’t fully understand right now.

This is the time. Choose today to serve the Living God and go where He leads. He goes before you and hems in your way behind you. We don’t need to fear. Isaiah 40:27-31 says,

“Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.

He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.

He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;

but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.”

This is a time to be all-in with Jesus. This is a time to draw near to God and seek His counsel on your choices. This is a time to give Him access to every part of your life. The Lord disciplines those He loves (Proverbs 3:11-13), so there may be things in your heart that He wants you to change. Don’t lose heart; He’s rooting out problems to make you a more effective disciple and image-bearer of Jesus.

Now is the time. What will you choose?
