What does it mean to stand firm in faith whatever the cost? On this edition of Live the Promise you’ll hear a powerful conversation Susie had with David and Jason Benham about how to live for Christ in love and humility.

David and Jason have a successful real estate company and a strong faith in Jesus. When they were approached by HGTV to host a program that flipped houses, it seemed to be a perfect fit. David knew it would be a great opportunity to help others while living out their faith.

“It was going to be a tool, not a toy.”

Several homosexual activists became aware of the brothers’ position on marriage and biblical values and pressured the network to drop their program.

David says this is nothing new to believers, though we seem surprised by it at times. “Many Christians don’t even realize they’re in a battle.” Though the network supported David and Jason, they made the difficult decision to cancel their program before it even aired. David and Jason were disappointed but God expanded their platform in the aftermath of the cancellation to share their story and speak truth to “strongholds” in the culture regarding marriage and abortion.

In the Benham brothers’ book , they share several principles for living a strong faith in the face of accusations and slander.

• Boldness without brokenness makes a bully.

• If you focus on depth, God will handle the breadth.

• God will never alter one principle in Scripture to obey another.

• Christians are strongest when they’re standing together. The Benhams put it this way:

“Unity is a result of the battle. Let’s be like the Marines, who naturally unite in the face of battle.”

• Picture yourself kneeling in prayer with someone who is hurling accusations at you. That simple practice can prevent you from anger or rants and lead to a civil, loving response.
