The abortion King's message to the world

Dr. Bernard Nathanson was a prominent former abortionist once known as America’s abortion king. He committed more than 5,000 abortions, and personally oversaw around 10,000 others.

He was also a man who turned his life over to Christ and saw the tragedy of his actions.

When Dr. Nathanson was confronted by a real-time ultrasound and actually saw a pre-born baby in the mother’s womb, his entire life changed. Pro-life activist Terry Beatley described how that moment transformed Dr. Nathanson’s life:

“When he, for the first time, saw the baby in a real-time ultrasound, he was a Jewish atheist man. He says that God didn’t change his heart then. Of course, I think he knows that God was working on him. The point he was trying to make was that it was the science that changed his mind. Even atheists and non-believing people can still recognize their humanity; they don’t have to be believers.”

Late in his life Dr. Nathanson admitted to lying to sway the Supreme Court to legalize abortion and deceive america. He was plagued by anxiety, suicidal thoughts, and regret over not only his actions, but the culture of abortion that he promoted.

“Dr Nathanson, with the help of Father McClosky, stopped thinking about suicide and then he received Jesus Christ in 1996. He became a believer and completely turned his life over to the Lord. He testified boldly that in Christ is the victory because He couldn’t get rid of all the baggage.”

“By the time I interviewed him, America was up to 52 million abortions at that point; now we’re hitting 60 million. This is what he knew he was leaving behind.”

“But I learned something from him that day, Dr. Nathanson knew he was saved, but he gave me a greater appreciation for what it means to suffer with Christ. He suffered with the women who still choose to have abortions. Even though he tried for so long to get the truth out.”

Terry Beatley was able to interview Dr. Nathanson shortly before his death in 2011. He left behind a powerful message behind for you.

“‘Love one another. Abortion is not love. Stop the killing. The world needs more love, and I’m all about love now.’ That is the message he left behind.”

Terry Beatley is the author of What If We’ve Been Wrong? which furthers Dr. Nathanson’s efforts to expose his own lies about abortion, and spread the truth about the beauty of life.
