Music is a powerful tool for intercession. Listen as Susie welcomes worship leader Dan Adler to the program to talk about worship and the National Day of Prayer. Dan is the worship leader of a 22-piece inter-ethnic worship band called Heart of the City and he shares some songs to lead us to intercede for our nation.

We Can Pray

“I’ve never recorded [this song]. It’s that sense of overwhelm-ness that breeds a song like this for me. It asks a lot of questions. What gives us power to carry on? We can pray. We can call on the One with all might in His hand and Who won’t turn away. This prayer thing is not something we have to do, this boring thing… prayer is our answer.”

As We Draw Near You

“A challenge to us to resist the devil. We don’t be passive, we draw near to God – seeking God in our pain, in our fear, in our sadness, in our repentance… how beautiful that if we’ve been sinful we don’t have to run from God.”

Healer Come Heal Us

“The prayer is, start with me. Heal me. You called us to be healers but I gotta get healed. Start with me. Whatever’s broken in me, fix it, and send me out to be a healer because You’ve made [the body of Christ] to be healers.”

All I Need is You

Dan points out that this is the most-played song of his around the world, though he wrote it backstage as he was waiting to close a worship service.

Dan urges us to get involved in the National Day of Prayer and find an event in your area that is happening on May 7.
