What did God show you in 2014? How did you grow in your faith? One single word can change your perspective on what happened. Listen as Jimmy Page from the Fellowship of Christian Athletes returns to explore how to select a word as the theme for your year.

Jimmy explains his word for this past year.

“My word for 2014 was connect. I really saw God bring a lot of transformation in the relationships I had. We live in a time when we can connect in many ways.”

God called Jimmy to start to set aside distractions – his smart phone being one of them – and make more of an effort to connect with his family, especially his children.

Jimmy also noticed that his food intake was directly connected to how he felt. “I’m a real health nut – we eat organic… I noticed when I started to compromise on my food, it affected my mood.”

Jimmy also saw a parallel in his word and his vocation.

“I started to see myself as a connector (professionally). When I would meet someone I would automatically ask, who can I connect this person with? Who would benefit from knowing this person?”

Here are some of the words we heard from you:

• Abundance

• Miracles

• Acquiesce/Surrender

• Stand

• Anticipation

• Seed

Jimmy draws a distinction between the concept he describes, and a New Year’s resolution.

“The one word is about ‘to be’ rather than ‘to do.’ It’s about transformation – who are you becoming? When we start to live it out… we know that where your focus goes, your energy flows.”
