Sometimes we need to start over. What happens when your family, company, or church is in need of a relaunch?
Listen as Susie welcomes back Dr. Mark Rutland, former president of Oral Roberts University. We look at how to bring a renewed sense of vision and purpose to our lives, with God’s direction. Whether you are the head of a company or the head of your home, you’ll want to hear this discussion!
In Dr. Rutland’s book, ReLaunch: How to Stage an Organizational Comeback, he offers these principles when it comes to re-launching your life, business, or church:
- Begin by asking God to see brokenness through His eyes – ask Him to show you obstacles as opportunities
- Let yourself dream in each season of life and ask, “What if?”
- A relaunch takes courage. In Mark’s words, you need to be “brave enough or crazy enough to dive in!”
- Vision is key, but don’t get carried away – look to God for your strength, but cultivate the discipline of saying “no” to the wrong things
- Servant leadership is at the center of every successful turnaround – this process is not meant to be a “golden parachute”
- Have the support of your ‘teammates,’ including your spouse
A turnaround rarely happens in the hands of one person – remember that it takes a crew to turn a ship, and it takes a team to turn a family or a church. True leadership is a combination of leading by example and empowering others to partner with you in accomplishing a God-given vision. As Dr. Rutland stated – “If our energy is from the LORD, then God can give you grace to keep going when everyone else is failing. Hang in there.”
