Fact: Men and women see things differently. It can be challenging to bridge those gaps when conflict and miscommunications arise. Authors Bill and Pam Farrel say there are ways to connect and enjoy oneness in marriage, and they join us to explain how. We unpack two of their most-loved books, Men Are Like Waffles, Women Are Like Spaghetti and Red-Hot Monogamy: Making Your Marriage Sizzle.

Bill and Pam offer a number of tips to keep your romance going:

•  Schedule regular date nights.
•  Pray together to keep your hearts connected.
•  Choose to observe and pursue your spouse.
•  Try a code word that you and your spouse can use when you’re wanting to be physically intimate.
•  Have inside jokes and tricks with your spouse to maintain laughter.
•  Make TIME to connect with your husband or wife:

•  Ten or fifteen minutes to reconnect each day.
•  Invest in a date night each week.
•  Monthly date for a longer period of time.
•  Escape for a lengthened vacation on a yearly basis to rest and recharge.

Bill shares his perspective on men and intimacy.

“It’s a constant pursuit of someone that’s different from me. It’s part of my mission in life to say ‘We’re different, and it’s okay.’ We divide up all the issues of life… whatever box we’re in we tend to be brilliant in. Unfortunately, when we discover boxes we’re not good at, we lose motivation and don’t want to go there. When it comes to intimacy for men, we need to develop a box for that.”

In the pursuit and love of marriage, Bill and Pam boil it down to two servant lovers seeking to understand each other.

“Husbands, if you give a woman your heart, she’ll give you her body. Wives, if you give him your body, he’ll give you his heart.”
