On Live the Promise, Susie talks with author Linda Dillow who has written the books Calm My Anxious Heart, Satisfy My Thirsty Soul and more about loving well. Linda understands that most women want to be faithful wives-but don’t know how to get there. How can women work at becoming godly spouses? What are the common pitfalls they run into in the process?

Linda shares,

“Too often I look my husband and I see what he should be doing differently. I see how he needs to change in this area or this area, and it’s just really easy to look at a husband, a coworker, a child and see what needs to change in their life.”

In contrast Linda shares what she see’s as God’s calling to look within and see if all is right in ourselves. Instead of pointing a figure at a spouse she challenges us to ask difficult questions of ourselves.

Also, individuals are called to rely on God instead of looking for the perfect support only he can provide in flawed humans.

“Every other person is like we are, flawed and selfish, and we hope God keeps just filing away and making us more of a  refined diamond, but the only place I can place my hope is in my God.”

She cites connection with and reliance on God as key to navigating her own flaws. Letting God lead allows both spouses to work together. Neither spouse’s way of navigating life is necessarily wrong, and paying attention to Gods leading will bring about harmony.

Listen as Linda shares the best and worst things she ever did in her 47-year marriage and calls women to live with dignity and love.
