Alec Hill became President and Chief Executive Officer of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/ USA® in 2001. In 2015, Hill stepped down from his role as president following a diagnosis of bone marrow cancer.

He holds a J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law as well as an M.A. in Biblical Studies and a B.A. in History from Seattle Pacific University (SPU).

From 1995-2001, he served as Dean of SPU’s School of Business and Economics. For the prior decade, he was Professor of Law and Ethics at the university. In the 1980s, he served as a Regional Director for World Relief, resettling thousands of refugees in five states.

Alec is author of InterVarsity Press books, Just Business: Christian Ethics in the Marketplace and Living in Bonus Time: Surviving Cancer, Finding New Purpose.

He serves on the board of Christianity Today International, is passionate about travel, the Seattle Mariners, and loves books (particularly history and fiction).

Along with his wife, Mary, he resides in Madison, Wisconsin. They have two adult daughters (Laura and Carolyn) and a son-in-law (Nate).
