Do you go through the motions of going to church and praying without feeling like you really know God? On this edition of Live the Promise Susie’s guest is author and Women of Faith speaker Angie Smith. She shares her own journey of  and what it means to have a real relationship with Him.

One day Angie was in her closet, praying and seeking God. She was wrestling with feelings of inadequacy, emptiness, and uncertainty when God spoke to her.

“Your walk looks more like a chase. Let’s fix that. Stop chasing Me.”

Angie points out that we can’t let our emotions dictate our relationship with God – when we come to Christ, that relationship is solid. We can come in our messiness. We can come in our brokenness and our imperfections because He knows about all of it.

Angie also addresses the need to check your motivation in living the Christian life. Am I attending this Bible study so that others will think I’m spiritual? Am I praying this way so that others will hear me?

Trust that God knows your heart and your needs before you ask Him. Trust His fatherly heart towards you, and His intentions towards you. Stop chasing Him – walk with Him instead.
