When the arteries in our bodies have plaque build-up, we become susceptible to heart attack and stroke. We all know what clogs us up physically, but what about spiritually? Susie Larson looks at the things that clog our spiritual arteries.

“It’s two things. It’s a disregard for God’s presence, and a disconnect between our problems and his promises.”

So often we rush in and out of God’s presence, we don’t take time to listen.

“Imagine with me, the heavenly scene of Jesus sitting at the right hand of the Father and the angels surrounding the throne singing Holy Holy Holy is the Lord Almighty.”

That’s what we enter into every time we pray. Do we show God the reverence rightfully His? So often we approach the throne of grace without truly understanding what we are entering into.

“God takes us. He loves us. He has grace for us, but really what a shame when you think about what we have access to, who we have access to, and how differently our prayers might sound and even how differently our prayers might prevail if we remember who it is for speaking to.”

Our prayer life will be transformed if we take time to remember who we have the privilege of speaking with.

“Pause before you pray and consider what the angels are doing in God’s presence. Pause for just a moment and remember what the Bible says about God, that the earth trembles in the presence of the Living God, that the mountains melt like wax in his presence. The Earth responds to the presence of the Living God.”
