We know that God is omniscient. He knows everything there is to know. However, Scripture also tells us that God forgets our sins as far as east is to the west. The obvious question is, how does God forget our sins if He’s omniscient?

Ray Comfort says he only way we can reconcile this paradox by realizing that God has annihilated our sins.

“It’s such a paradox that God is omniscient and yet He has forgotten our sins. Omniscience means God knows everything so surely He knows what He has forgotten?”

“He has removed them as far as the east is from the west. You can find north and you can find south. You can go to the north pole and say, ‘I’m here, this is north,’ and you can go to the south pole and say ‘this is south,’ but you cannot go to the east and say, ‘this is east,’ because east from west is an infinite distance.”

The same concept applies to our sin in God’s eyes.

“God has removed our sins an infinite distance which means that in Christ there is no condemnation to those who are in Christ that walk after the Spirit.”

“The way to let that be part of your life is to just have faith. Trust God, believe His Word, be a man or woman of great faith in God. Trust Him with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”

Ray reminds us that Scripture says that it’s impossible for God to lie. When God says He has forgotten our sins, He really has, even if we aren’t able to fully comprehend that truth.
