What does it mean to be truly healthy? Dr. Troy Spurrill says that being healthy is actually about letting the body do what it was designed by God to do.

Dr. Troy’s own health journey led him down the path of trying to understand how he could help his body function as God intended it to.

He says the key to good health is not picking up the pieces after something goes wrong, but actually being proactive and working on preventing disease from starting in the first place.

“The reality is, it’s a lot easier to prevent most things than it is to help fix them after the fact.”

Dr. Troy practices functional medicine and he says there are several different areas within functional medicine that can be examined to determine the root cause of a dysfunction.

“There’s mental, physical, chemical, and electrical stress, when those things are in balance, we’re healthy. However, when there is a breakdown in communication with any one of those areas we start to see dysfunction.”

In order to regain balance, Troy says it’s important to be on the lookout for and measure dysfunction.

“Our goal is to start to measure dysfunction at all levels. Can you walk a straight line with your eyes closed? Can you bring your muscles up and are they equal from side to side? We’re looking for these slight differences in function and from that, we can determine if there is something we can do about that dysfunction.”

That’s where someone with the expertise of Dr. Troy comes in.

“If there is, you start working on it. The great thing is, God did a great job, He made us so well that we don’t have to do much beyond just trying to restore the communication and once we get that communication restored, we start to see things working, the innate healing starts to come back in.”
