Are you ready to battle for your life? Spiritual warfare is a part of our duty as Christ-followers. Larry Dugger encourages us to roll up our sleeves and fight for our faith.

“Whenever we are finally ready to roll up our sleeves, pick up the sword, and get in the trenches, it’s really a bloody brawl. This is not a battle you can fight while wearing a new Sunday suit or Sunday dress. This is a roll up your sleeves, mud on your face, all out battle.”

“It’s part of our responsibility. We are obviously protected by the Lord and watched over by Him, but He also expects us to get in the battle.”

The Story of Gideon in Judges 6 is an encouragement for each of us in times when we don’t feel strong enough for battle.

“In the beginning, Gideon is hiding from the enemy. The Angel of the Lord appears to Gideon and tells him that he wants him to go fight the Mideon army.”

Gideon quickly comes up with excuses as to why he isn’t fit to serve the Lord; the Angel of the Lord rebuffs Gideon’s excuses.

“The Angel tells him, go in the strength you have.”

According to Larry, this is where most of us miss the boat when it comes to fighting the desires of our flesh.

“We think that maybe after the next revival at our church we’ll be spiritually strong enough. Or maybe after the next spiritual warfare conference we’ll finally be able to engage with these things that are holding us down, but that’s not what the angel said to Gideon. He said, Gideon, go in the strength you have.”

“Don’t wait for more strength. Whatever strength you have at the time, go in that, and God will make up the rest.”
