Highlight: Strong-willed women and the church

A strong-willed woman uses her God-given passions, bold spirit and compassion to influence the world and bring honor to God. She is an asset to the body of Christ and can help to promote kingdom expansion. According to Cynthia Ulrich Tobias, she is also overlooked and underutilized in the church.

Cynthia points out that the church is at a disadvantage by not utilizing the strengths and passions of strong-willed women.

“We’re maybe missing harnessing some incredible power to fight the enemy, to promote the kingdom of God and to really do amazing things. Maybe the church is just a little bit behind and overlooking some women who have the power to really make a difference.”

Strong-willed women are interested in taking action and pushing the ball forward in any given situation. Cynthia expresses the mentality of a strong-willed woman,

“Those of us who are in the strong-will category are thinking: I want a little bit more action, I want to move things forward, I’ve got all these things pressing in I’ve got to get accomplished and it has to be pretty compelling to get me to stop.”

The bottom line is to make sure that whatever you do, in work or deed, that you honor and glorify God as the strong-willed woman He created you to be.

“We don’t want to be ahead of Him, and we don’t want to run over Him. We want to make sure that our actions and that our words bring honor and glory to God.”

How does a strong-willed woman balance activity and waiting on the Lord? Waiting on the Lord is often a challenge for anyone, especially for women who are used to a fast-paced lifestyle.

“I want to be doing something and I want to keep pedaling while I’m waiting. But according to the Bible, and according to what I’ve been taught and I know is true, you shouldn’t always be doing something. What if you’re doing the wrong thing?”

Strong-willed women can work together to improve relationships, expand influence and honor God, even if they approach it from a different angle.
