Have you ever wanted to hear from God, but didn’t know how? Chip Ingram says that God promises that we will find Him if we seek Him with our whole heart.

“God so longs for us that He gives us a promise. He says seek me and you’ll find me. Jesus teaches on prayer and He says, seek, knock, ask. It’s a prayer God really wants to answer.”

How do we find God? Chip says the answer can be found in Proverbs 2:1-5.

“My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God.”

Chip draws two conclusions from this passage in Proverbs.

“One is that God will be found in His Word and people who know God are people of the Bible.”

“Second, He’s going to be found by people with high intentionality, there’s a real desire, this is what they want. There’s effort. He wants His children to dig and demonstrate that this really matters. It’s more than just a little prayer.”

God is looking for hungry hearts that truly want to know him on a deeper level. Chip illustrates this point with a hypothetical treasure hunt.

“Imagine this is true, your friend tells you there’s $10 million buried in the backyard somewhere, it’s not more than five feet below the surface.”

We all want $10 million; we would hunt for the buried treasure with unmatched intensity. Chip says, if we hunt for God with the same intensity, we will find him.
