June 6th…

Today is the 72nd anniversary of the D-Day Invasion of Allied forces onto the beaches of Normandy during World War II.  Over 9,000 brave men lost their lives or were injured on that fateful assault into Normandy! Wave after wave of American men and Allied forces stormed the beaches which eventually resulted in a small foothold from which other troops soon joined them to advance the cause of freedom. We remember them today with grateful hearts for their sacrifice and commitment which began the liberation of Europe from Hitler’s Third Reich.

This week also marks the passing of Muhammad Ali. As we all know, he was a tremendous athlete, a superb boxer, and a devout Muslim.  Of course many will remember him for his charitable work done later in his life. Dr. David Aikman, an award-winning print and broadcast journalist, a best-selling author, and a regular guest on Dr. Bill Maier Live recalled this story about Muhammad Ali.

“In 1973, when Muhammad Ali was on his way to the Thriller in Manila with Joe Frazier here, I had the opportunity (and the privilege) of sharing the Gospel with him. It was as he was leaving a press conference in the Kahala Hilton Hotel in Hawaii that I approached him and we began an absolutely fascinating conversation in which I went through all the points of Christian salvation. We then went up to my hotel room so that I could get a Bible  to illustrate for him what we had been talking about. He did not accept Christ at the end of our conversation nor did I actually ask him to but I think it’s had a profound impact upon him for a number of reasons.”
