Highlight: The illusion of control

We lose our perspective on God when we cling to control instead of Him. Bianca Juarez Olthoff knew she was a child of God. She knew God was faithful in his plan and purpose for her life.

She also thought she knew better then God.

“He’s not doing it in my timeline, so I’m just going to hurry up and do this.”

Bianca bought into the lie that she could control her career, her relationships and her future. She became a self-described control freak.

“I let my brokenness be my driver and I became obsessed with control.”

The one problem with grabbing control of our lives is that we will never have enough to satisfy us.

“Control is this beautiful girl with amazing hair and chiziled biceps. That is the person you want to become.”

“And yet control is this illusive thing. You want her to say that enough is enough but she never will. Where does control stop?”

“I was going to will myself to be like this perfect image, polished, and pretty…everything was going to be magical.”

And yet everything was not magical. The tighter Bianca clung to control the more everything seemed to spiral from her control. God had other plans.

“It was almost as if God had to deconstruct my American dream to take me on the journey to the promised land.”

“That was the moment of crisis for me. I felt like everything was in the incinerator. The relationship I wanted; gone out the door. I began to binge eat again because I couldn’t process my mom’s illness.”

“Literally, God had to pull away the layers of control, He had to pry my fingers off of my dreams to say:

‘Will you carry not what you want. Will you carry what I have for you? Because it’s so much better than the puny little thing you want.’”

Bianca Juarez Olthoff fires up audiences around the world with hilarious stories and profound Bible teaching as she inspires women to live with unquenchable passion.
