“Snowdrifts under my toes, I’m thinkin’
I’ve never felt this young before
Though we hardly know each other
I hear you say ‘Let’s get old together.”  by Sarah Kallies

On her album Sarah Kallies shares one of her most personal songs.

“It is a love song. Its a beautiful one because it is the story of how we meet and how we fell in love.”

is a a love song based on her marriage to Nick.

“There’s beauty in that romance. God is in that!”

Sarah was hesitant to include this song because of how intimate it is, and because of the topic. Sometimes romantic love gets dismissed by Christians, but it’s part of many marriages. Romantic love may come and go, but we can still celebrate those early moments of a relationship as tender, funny, and sweet. Sarah explains how she processed things for this song.

“I grew up in the church, and there’s a lot of stigma that comes with romantic love. I had to step away from that and realize that relationship, and marriage, is a beautiful thing. And it’s okay to sing about that. It’s okay to sing about the first time that he held my hand.”

Sarah sings ,

“Snowdrifts under my toes, I’m thinkin’
I’ve never felt this young before
Though we hardly know each other
I hear you say ‘Let’s get old together.’

Oh to hear, to hear you breathe
I lose, I lose hours of sleep
And to feel, oh to feel your touch
Oh my darling, my darling, just a brush

You write me long love letters
Calligraphy on parchment paper
Caught climbing through your bedroom window
30 days, surprise proposal”
