We’re all prone to wander, but God always welcomes us home. Pastor Jon Ferguson explains what finding our way back to God looks like and what it does not look like.

It’s not about eliminating doubt.

“If finding your way back to God was about eliminating all your doubts, I think Jesus would probably have eliminated a few of His disciples.”

Throughout the entire Bible narrative, some of the most key figures struggled with doubts.

“That’s one of the reasons why I love Scripture, the dark side and the light side, the good, the bad, the ugly, the incredible doubts and wanderings of some of the heroes of the faith.”

The stories remind us over and over again to not cast our doubts aside and pretend they don’t exist. When we try to eliminate all of our doubts we heap unnecessary pressure on our lives because we can’t do it.

“Embrace your doubts and take your doubts to God and tell Him about them and make them a part of your ongoing dialogue, conversation, and relationship with Him.”

It’s not about figuring out a way to get God to accept you.

Sometimes we fall into the trap of believing that we don’t measure up or we don’t know enough to be acceptable to God.

“It’s not what we do or what we accomplish, the truth is, His grace is sufficient.”

Many Christians believe the lie that they aren’t good enough for God. They feel a constant sense of disappointment.

However, God’s grace is enough to save us. He doesn’t expect us to be perfect because we never will. He calls us to surrender our lives to Him and seek to follow Him with everything we have.
