Where do we come from? Why are we here? For questions at the very root of who we are, being willing ask to them, & probing the responses we’re given can lead to surprising controversy.

As we set out On the Road once again, we focus in on those questions of our origins as we trace the path of one America’s foremost advocates for the theory of intelligent design – and one of it’s founding thinkers.

We go behind the science, explore Charles Darwin’s own doubt about his theory of evolution, and hear of a remarkable journey to the forefront of a vibrant & essential debate.

We welcome alongside Dr. Stephen C. Meyer, Director of the Discovery Institute’s Center for Science and Culture and a founder both of the intelligent design (ID) movement and of the CSC, intelligent design’s primary intellectual and scientific headquarters. Most recently, he’s author of the New York Times best seller Darwin’s Doubt: The Explosive Origin of Animal Life and the Case for Intelligent Design.

Our conversation takes us first to an explanation of what intelligent design is at its heart. Then we expand the discussion to why the good doctor still believes we need to care about the origins issue and the difference it makes to our worldview.

One of the most remarkable features of Dr. Meyer’s story is the role his writings and ideas have played in high profile recent controversies over origins. He takes us behind the way in which other academics have suffered for simply daring to talk about his work.

It’s a fascinating tale of a how a young boy who couldn’t get enough of science – as evidenced by his youthful efforts to run a stand featuring his bug collection in competition with the lemonade stands in his neighborhood – grew to become a pioneering scientific thinker.
