“There are some Christian responsibility that no one else can do for you.”

Dr. Alex McFarland is an apologist and the Director of the Center for Christian Worldview and Apologetics at North Greenville University.

Christian leaders and pastors can direct and facilitate opportunities for our faith to grow, however we have to take individual responsibility for our faith.

“There are some things that every Christian has the privilege and really the duty to cultivate.

Every believer needs to know how to pray with power.

Every believer needs to learn how to hear from God.

Every believer needs to learn how to persevere and to be a person of character and tenacity and love people.

Every believer has to view all of life in terms of stewardship.

But one of the things that that’s on the disciple’s job description is to to know what you believe and the reasons why.”

“See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.” Colossians 2:8

How do we encourage others to develop a knowledge of what they believe and the reasons why?

“We really do have to take personal ownership for the life of the mind. That might sound kind of lofty and grandiose, but the Bible tells us to renew our mind by feeding on the truth of Christ. Thank God for pastors and leaders, but we really have to take personal ownership for that ourselves.”
