Being a mom brings challenges, and concerned parents know it’s easy to become fearful for your childrens’ health, safety, and more—no matter what the season.

Sherry Surratt, the CEO of MOPS, International, helps us face and overcome our fears on this edition of Connecting Faith. We discover practical advice, encouragement, and biblical insight for moms with children of any age, as we talk about her new book  .

When you become a parent, you invest your whole heart into your child. Sometimes, our natural concern for our kids leads to fear and worry. If you are finding yourself in that place of worry – it’s ok! You are not alone by any means.

The top five things that moms say they worry about:

• Am I enough?

• “Stranger danger”

• That our child will be hurt in an accident

• That our child will be bullied at school

• That our child will face a serious illness

Sherry calls for us to turn our fear into hope, noting that 97% of the things we worry about never happen!

We look at the full text of a prayer with whose first line, at least, you may well be familiar – The Serenity Prayer:

“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. Living one day at a time; Enjoying one moment at a time; Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace; Taking, as He did, this sinful world as it is, not as I would have it; Trusting that He will make all things right if I surrender to His Will; That I may be reasonably happy in this life and supremely happy with Him Forever in the next. Amen.”

Sherry reflects on the profound meaning that prayer can have for parents.
