We have a strong foundation for faith, even in the shakiest of circumstances. Listen as Susie speaks with Ron Luce, president of Teen Mania Ministries, about building a strong walk with God. Ron’s new book is  .

It was 4:30 on a Friday afternoon when Ron received a phone call from a woman he didn’t know, assuring him that his daughter Hannah was all right. Hannah had been on a plane with several other young people headed to an Acquire the Fire event in Nebraska. The plane crashed in Kansas, and Hannah was one of the only people who survived. Ron explains how he and his wife wrestled with that in the days following the crash.

“We’re so happy that our daughter is alive, yet brokenhearted beyond words that these others had passed away. I’m trying to comfort and console these parents with words that felt like platitudes… out of this dissonance, this book was born. What do we do, as followers of Christ, when circumstances hit us and we don’t know what to do? For too many people their faith is the first thing they throw out the window.”

Ron speaks on

• The danger of having a “feel-good faith.”

• How we can trust God even when extreme suffering comes.

• What it means to accept Christ’s sacrifice on your behalf rather than simply “accepting Christ into your heart”.

• Why our culture of independence is creating a weakened church

• The danger of the phrase, “All you have to do is…” when sharing the gospel with someone.

• How to equip young people to stand firm in faith.

• The true definition of “believe.”

• Training yourself for a spiritual marathon.

Ron says,

“What is the premise that Jesus presented us with? Over and over again, one of the most important foundation stones in order to be resilient is Jesus’ command to ‘Follow Me.’ Follow His heart, follow His lifestyle, listen to His words. Followers follow; we don’t ask for trophies. We just follow.”
