Hope is a force that will shatter your fear, remove your doubt, and leave you permanently changed. On the weekend edition of Live the Promise, we hear Susie’s discussion with author and pastor Pete Wilson of Cross Point Church. They talk about finding hope in dark places, and the four choices that will change your life forever. Pete’s book is .

1. Choose to transform instead of transfer. Take responsibility for the choices you’ve made, rather than blaming others, and let God change you through His Word and connections with His people.

2. Choose to to be okay with NOT being okay. God calls us to authenticity – open up and share your pain with safe people, and let God minister to you through them. Pete points out that denial “comes easy” to us, because it’s easier to pretend we “have it all together” than answering tough questions and trusting others with your burdens.

3. Choose to trust rather than please. Are you striving to please God, or are you trusting that you already do?

4. Choose to free people rather than hurt them. “Hurt people hurt people.” But free people also free people. When we’re walking in the freedom of forgiveness, and knowing who we are in Christ, we can free others who are living in bitterness or shame by loving and serving them.
