On this edition of Grace and Truth, Paul and Craig discuss executive actions regarding immigration by President Obama as well as the latest in the war in Iraq.
Immigration
Back in November, President Obama issued an executive action to protect as many as five million illegal immigrants from deportation. Obama specifically wanted to protect children who were brought into the country illegally by their parents.
Recently, a federal appeals court has decided to halt the executive action and 26 states have sued to attempt to stop the action.
Many believe President Obama has overstepped his boundaries and many are concerned that compassion for illegal immigrants is beginning to usurp rule of law that was established to protect the citizens of the United States.
“We cannot toss our governmental system aside in the name of compassion.”
As a result of this potential action that President Obama has issued, a new class has been created in the United States. This class consists of illegal immigrants who have been given amnesty but are not United States citizens.
By law, this new class of people have no rights because they aren’t citizens and are far more susceptible to being abused or taken advantage of.
How can I pray?
• Prayer for finding a balance between compassion and upholding the rule of law.
• Wisdom to the people electing a new president.
The Iraq War
Famous investigator Bod Woodward has spent 18 months investigating the United States involvement in the Iraq war and he has found no evidence to suggest President George W. Bush lied about the presence of WMD in Iraq.
Many have accused Bush of lying in order to justify invading Iraq.
However, Woodward discovered that the same information given to Bush that prompted him to invade Iraq in search of WMD was also given to President Clinton years earlier.
While invading Iraq in search of WMD turned out to be a mistake, intelligence strongly suggested that Iraq had possession of the weapons and President Bush feared the worst.
Over 3,000 United States citizens had just been killed in the 9/11 attacks and President Bush feared that Iraq would supply terrorist organizations like Al-Qaeda with weapons to unleash an even more devastating attack on the United States in the future.
