What does it mean for our soul to long for God? Listen as Lisa Whittle shares about soul hunger, revival, and how to focus on Jesus in the midst of other things that clamor for our attention.

“There’s a reason we were drawn to this amazing God… In our daily life, we forget those things because life gets in our way, and it gets loud, and it clamors for our attention. Sometimes a tragedy happens and we remember Him again… God wants us to remember who He is and what He’s done because it helps our appetite for Him grow.”

In Lisa’s book, , she tells the story of Florrie Evans who kicked off the well-known Welsh revival.

“She was a new Christian, not really savvy to the rules of religion… she came to church one day and stood up and said ‘I love Jesus more than anything else,’ and a revival broke out in that place. Revival doesn’t have to be manufactured… it happens organically in you first. God doesn’t want to do something amazing around you – first He wants to do something amazing in you.”

Lisa shares four things that we tend to want more than a thriving relationship with God.

• Comfort
• Popularity
• Logic
• Blessing

Lisa urges us to examine our hearts and honestly do a self-inventory. Rather than being about a competition with other believers, our heart posture is directly connected to living out our calling. “If I don’t want God the most, I’ll never achieve the kingdom usefulness I want to have.” It’s not about being braver; it’s about wanting God more than anything else.

What if we’re afraid He’ll turn our world upside down?

“Sometimes our fear of the unknown is worse than the reality that will actually happen. If God is perfect, that means it’s okay; it’s going to be good. I understand that fear – but I believe it comes down to ‘Is God good? Is He perfect?'”
