There is power in praying the Word of God in our daily life. According to Tom Yeakley of the Navigators, there are many ways we can pray God’s promises in our lives. The important thing is the posture of our heart.

“We don’t demand things from God, attempting to corner Him.”

How do we plead a promise?

The first way we can pray God’s promises in our lives is by coming to God with a two-fold attitude of humility and courageous expectancy.

As Christ-followers, we have the profound ability to come before God in prayer. God wants to have a deeply personal relationship with Him, but we have to want it too.

“We are encouraged in Scripture that we can come boldly into the presence of God, we are members of God’s family we can address Him as Abba, Daddy, and Father. “

We have all been granted the incredible privilege of holy intimacy with God, but many Christians don’t bother to take the time to utilize it. Amazing transformation will take place when we accept our standing as children of God and seek to commune with Him.

“We worship God with reverence because He is God, and we are dust that He breathes life into.”

A second way we can plead the promises of God is by acknowledging and confessing our sins before Him.

Christians often fall into the trap of feeling like they don’t have to ask for forgiveness for sins, because they’ve already repented and accepted Christ. Asking for forgiveness is not a one-time-in-forever event; it is a continual action verb.

“So I continually fall short, even though I know that by the grace of God all of my sins, past, present, and future are forgiven. I am still encouraged to acknowledge my sin before God as the Holy Spirit convicts me.”
