The coastal hubs of America’s entertainment industry have gained an often-deserved reputation as places not always friendly to faith. The values celebrated by Hollywood & the big television networks have frequently seemed far away from those of the faith community – and many Americans in general. Yet, in the past decade, this trend appears to have shifted in some real & encouraging ways.

There’s been a marked uptick in the number of films and television offerings portraying the power of belief & featuring people of great faith in God in very positive ways. On this latest trek On the Road… we meet two individuals playing a central part in that trend.

In our show’s second part, we welcome Korie Robertson of A&E’s smash hit tv series – Duck Dynasty. She takes us inside the Robertson house, explaining what it’s like to live life with the cameras rolling. We also discover how her faith & family heritage led to her latest book – Duck Commander Devotions for Kids.

But first – it’s a real treat to highlight a young man who’s at the center of a movie that just opened this past weekend across the country. His name is Jakob Salvati – and though he still hasn’t reached his twelfth birthday – Jakob plays the lead role of Pepper Flint Busby in the film Little Boy.

To get right to our full conversation with Jakob & Korie, you can head to the bottom of this post. Otherwise, here are some compelling highlights from the show first.

Little Boy tells the remarkable tale of a young boy with a great faith that his beloved Dad will return home from the front lines of the second world war. Jakob explains why his character – Pepper – comes to believe that so strongly.

Highlight: A mustard seed

When it comes to those who have a chance to take in the movie, I ask Jakob what he hopes they’ll take with them after they leave the theater.

Highlight: Remember this

Then our latest journey On the Road for Faith Radio continues with a glance at a family who never thought they’d become a household name. Yet, custom duck calls, hard work, a generous portion of personality & great faith propelled Louisiana’s Robertson family to international stardom. They’re now the stars of A&E’s hit show Duck Dynasty, and we soon discover that the Robertsons aren’t your typical reality show participants, as we welcome alongside Korie Robertson – wife of Willy, mom of Sadie, and one of the central characters on the show.

She explains how her family’s faith in God has been the glue that’s held everything together in the midst of having the ups and downs of their lives play out on television.

Highlight: The faith difference

Knowing that fame can be here today and gone tomorrow, Korie also shares what she hopes fans of the show will really remember about the Robertsons.

Highlight: Faith, family, ducks

And now here’s our full conversation with Korie Robertson & Jakob Salvati. Jakob shares what it was like to work with tremendous actors like Tom Wilkinson, Emily Watson & Kevin James; Korie reflects on what it’s been like to watch her kids stand up for their beliefs; and much more!
