Lent is a time to step back and refocus on our connection with God. Listen as Susie talks with Jimmy Page about our Lenten journey, Commit to Live Fit. We explore the balance between physical and spiritual disciplines and how they can draw us deeper into faith. Sign up for Commit to Live Fit here!

Jimmy points out that refreshment is a major part of the Christian life.

“When you encounter a child of God who is in the Word and faith-filled, you should leave that conversation refreshed.”

Jimmy walks through the benefits of physical hydration:

“The human body is almost 70% water. Your brain is 80% water. When you talk about getting enough water, you’re talking about the very fuel for your body to perform at its best. We can only live without water for four days. Everything just works better when we are properly hydrated. Being properly hydrated is the number one thing you can do to assist with weight loss; it regulates your hormones and boosts your metabolism.”

Susie points out that sugar goes hand-in-hand with inflammation. When we have that fluid in our bodies, there’s less wear and tear on our joints and muscles.

How much water should we actually drink? Jimmy offers a general guideline – drink half your body weight, in ounces, each day.

“If the average person drank half their body weight in ounces, their immune system would be boosted, their memory would improve and they probably would drop a few pounds as well.”

The benefits of spiritual hydration:

Up your intake of God’s Word. Jimmy says this is key.

“If most of us are dehydrated, it’s like running on flat tires. If you’re not filled with the Word of God, you lack power, energy, focus, spiritual clarity… so we’ve got to make sure we start the day with that intake. This is about freedom.”
