What shall I do, Lord?

If you’re like every other Christian who’s ever lived, you’ve probably found yourself asking, what difference am I making with my life? Everyone strives to realize their deeper meaning in the world. Every Christian believes there’s a higher calling on their life and almost every Christian has been coached to ask themselves the question, what would Jesus do?

But in the midst of all of this striving for deeper meaning, author Whitney T. Kuniholm asks a different question; the Apostle Paul’s question from the book of Acts:

“What shall I do, Lord?”

Kuniholm has written The Essential Question: How You Can Make a Difference for God. He joined Dr. Bill Maier Live! to talk about how the book of Acts can help Christians today find God’s will, or as Kuniholm puts it: God’s “assignment” for your life:

“God says, I’ll show you what you what you’re assigned to do…God has a unique assignment for everyone.”

Kuniholm adds that sometimes, using terms like “God’s will” or “God’s calling” loses our focus for His day-by-day assignments:

“More often than not, God calls us to an everyday challenge; to make a difference in the world right around me in my home or in my workplace or in my community. And we should never underestimate the value..and power of meeting the practical needs around us.”

But in the midst of the debate between predestination and free-will, how can we view God’s supposed “big plan” versus His day-to-day plan for our lives? Kuniholm explains:

Highlight: trust God, do the next thing

Kuniholm hopes Christians will start asking themselves the questions:

How can I make a difference for You today?

What shall I do, Lord?
