Across our communities, it’s far too easy to find families impacted by drug abuse. Finding hope through recovery, however, is more rare. One ministry is seeing addictions broken and life change taking place.

We welcome Rich Scherber and Jeff Dye of MN Adult and Teen Challenge. They share stories of profound transformation and hope from those overcoming powerful addictions. We also gain perspective and insight from friends who’ve gone through the program offered by MN Adult and Teen Challenge and share the astounding results.

For three years in the 1970’s, Rich used drugs himself; then God intervened. Now he is a central part of the outreach of MN Adult and Teen Challenge, an organization that’s been offering resources and hope for decades. The organization maintains 235 residential houses nationwide and a further 850 internationally.

Unfortunately, drug use is higher now than it has been in a decade. Alcohol continues to be the most abused drug. The most abused drug is also the most legal and readily available.

There’s been increasing discussion about potentially legalizing marijuana. Our guests reflect on the possibility in view of their experiences.

The numbers say that for every ten people that need treatment for addiction, only one of them is getting the help they need. Meanwhile, fully 48% of high school students admit to having used an addictive form of a drug. Yet in spite of these sobering statistics, our friends offer testimonies of hope.

Sebastian explains how he overcame drug addiction and family trauma. Kimberly details her drug use from a young age, but how God has restored her life. Then Calvin shares his struggles with marijuana, pills, cocaine & meth. He says that a lot of us don’t understand just how easy it is to obtain substances like these. Yet he says that God intervened in his circumstances and brought redemption into a dark situation.
