Prayer is a powerful tool. Listen to Susie’s discussion with Dr. Warren Wiersbe about powerful, five-word statements from the New Testament that drive us to praise. They touch on five aspects of the Christian life:

•  How our faith grows through reading the Word, through community, and through suffering
•  Overcoming fear
•  Humility vs. pride
•  Avoiding “turf wars” in Christianity
•  The richness of the Lord’s Prayer

What are you seeing in the hearts of Americans? Are you praying for a massive turning of hearts back to God?

In the second half of the show, Dan Adler, of Heart of the City, joins us to talk about the National Day of Prayer, and how we can join together to pray for our nation.

“We are in desperate times,” Dan says, “but it’s the people of God who need to humble themselves… we have this responsibility to pray and it’s our prayers that make a difference.”

Dan prays for the city on a regular basis, and he frequently asks for mercy.

“Most people who are against the plans of God have a new righteousness of their own… they’re sincere. They actually think they’re doing something right.”

Dan prays that God would bring His enemies to Himself and thwart the plans of the wicked. He shares his involvement with “Bless Minnesota,” a movement to walk the streets of your own city in prayer and share your faith with the people you meet.

We can intercede for our country wherever we are; pray for guidance, courage, and humility. Pray for our political leaders, regardless of their ideology. Pray that God’s kingdom will come and His will be done. Ask God to open doors for you to share your faith and the courage to take those opportunities to talk about Christ.
