God knows the plans He has for us. On the weekend edition of Live the Promise Susie welcomes author Shelene Bryan. She shares some of the principles of exciting, risky faith: We are called to love the way God loves us, skip comfort in favor of serving another, and jump into the epic journey God has planned for us.

Before she was a sold-out Christian, Shelene was a well-known movie producer in Hollywood. She spent her days surrounded by comfort, wealth, air-conditioning, and complacency. God opened her eyes to the need and poverty around the world and led her to Africa to see it for herself. Since that trip, Shelene’s heart has changed radically for the poor.

What does it mean to live a love, skip, jump life? Shelene explains.

“I believe we’re all one ‘yes’ away from changing everything. In looking back at how I said yes to God that first time and went to Africa, I would have to say that some of the most amazing things God wants to do in our lives as Christians involves giving Him permission to take us on uncomfortable journeys. My journey was a literal journey to Africa – yours might be different. My desire is for you to join me on a yes adventure that will make you uncomfortable. We all want to walk on water; those 11 disciples in the boat that night gave up everything to follow him yet they were too afraid to get out of the boat, and they missed out on an opportunity of a lifetime that never happened again in history. There are ‘walk on water’ moments and we’re missing them, because we’re  paralyzed by our own fear.”

Shelene started a non-profit to mobilize the Church worldwide to act on behalf of those in poverty. Click here for more information on Skip1.
