Following Christ means living a radical life of surrender – in other words, being All InListen as Susie talks with author and pastor Mark Batterson of National Community Church. We explore what it means to follow Christ no matter what the cost.

First, Mark challenges us to realize that surrender is necessary for the Christian life. “If Jesus hung on the cross, we can certainly carry ours… You are the apple of His eye. Is He your pearl of great price?” Mark describes missionaries from centuries ago who would pack all of their belongings into a coffin before traveling overseas with the message of the gospel. They were fully prepared to die on the mission field because they knew the treasure of the gospel was more valuable than their own lives. While we may not be overseas missionaries, we’re still called to give everything we have to the Lord.

How can we know if we’re fully surrendered to God? Mark suggests reviewing your calendar and your pocketbook. We invest in the things and people that matter most to us – are we investing time and money in God’s kingdom work? Over time, as we learn to “die to ourselves,” we start to hunger more for God and for His love to reach further than our own names, and we will go anywhere, do anything, and give up everything for His purposes. That’s what it means to live in full surrender.

Susie sums it up well: When we’re standing before the throne of God, “No one is going to regret a penny of money, a second of time, or a single gift given for the Lord.”
