The world is moving from rural to urban and large cities are an increasingly driving influence on culture. This is a key reason to pray for the welfare of the city and strengthen its leaders.

Craig Sider has been training Christian leaders and pastors for years as president of the New York City Leadership Center—the sponsor of Movement Day held each October.   We’ll talk about the power of prayer, leadership development, changing the city and impacting the world.

Our discussion includes:

• Just what makes our cities so influential?

• If we’re able to reach the city’s leaders for the gospel, what influence might we have on our world as a whole?

• We revisit the massive revival that took place in New York City 150 years ago, a movement where six became thirty and thirty became thousands.

“When a city becomes a place where it’s obvious Christ is alive, there is a ripple effect.”

• How does a city’s role as an economic hub inform the way we can seek to impact it for Christ?

“How can God use our position in the marketplace to further the Kindgom?”

We focus on the efforts to plant churches in the heart of the city.  Craig poses an interesting question about how God views our faith community – when God looks at a city how many churches does He see?

Often, it’s how we act and treat others in our community as a church that speaks far louder than what we actually say. One of our key needs in effectively reaching the city is each other as believers.  How do we address the needs, hurts & pain we see around us?

Highlight – The way we communicate

“We need awareness to the raw realities of our cities…and in the name of Jesus ask how can we address these realities.”
