Do you let your emotions control you?
Sometimes we get so overwhelmed by fear or pride that we lose sight of the truth that God is our Rock. On this Live the Promise Susie talks with author and Women of Faith speaker Sheila Walsh about her book, The Storm Inside. She helps us recover the truth that God’s hand is on us and we are His children, regardless of our circumstances.
We’ve all walked through storms in this life – storms on the outside, and storms on the inside. Jesus says that His peace is different from the peace the world offers us. What’s the difference? He gives us strength to be able to stand in difficult circumstances, with the wind howling and the waves thrashing us, and say with confidence ”The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want.”
Satan tries to tempt us away from God. Sheila calls us to give God our burdens and embrace His love, because the enemy has nothing in his arsenal to combat a woman who lives in forgiveness.

- Bitterness
- Unforgiveness
- Disappointment – as Sheila puts it, “You can beat your fist on the chest of the lion of the tribe of Judah and know that He’ll be there, but where you choose to stand in your disappointment makes a difference.” Will you stand with God, or stand against Him?
- Shame
- Regret – rather than reliving past choices, trust God to redeem them and move forward
Sheila calls men and women to find their strength in Christ and control their emotions – in other words, lead your emotions; don’t let your emotions lead you. Our emotions are a powerful tool, and we can use them to live in fear or live in faith.
