This is part 3 of a 6 part series looking at Your Beautiful Purpose. Listen to Part 1: Embracing your purpose

There are many voices in our lives – our parents, our close friends, our spouse, ourselves, and God. Sometimes it can be hard to sort out what is from God and what is from others. We know that God speaks to us through His Word, His people, and our circumstances. But how can we train ourselves to discern His voice in those categories? Listen to Susie share more from her book, Your Beautiful Purpose. We talk about how to hear our Heavenly Father’s voice, and Susie shares some tools we can use when we’re looking for God’s guidance in our lives.

God’s voice becomes muted in our lives when we become sidetracked by lesser things. Get alone with God and ask Him to show you what lesser things are getting in the way of intimacy with Him. It might be spending too much time on Facebook. It might be overeating. It might be abusing drugs or alcohol. It might be the fear of man. When we clear out the clutter and “everything that hinders,” as the writer of Hebrews says, we’re in a place to hear God and feel His nudge.

Commit to spending daily time with Him. Choose to listen to worship music. Scripture is meant to be spoken out loud – start reading out loud and speaking God’s truth to yourself. This is a key step in preparing yourself to step into your calling, because as you hear His promises, you are training yourself to resist Satan’s temptations and focus instead on God’s unchanging, unshakeable Word. What has God been speaking to you today?
